Labuan Director Visa

An expatriate who holds a key position in a company in Malaysia requires a valid work permit known as DP10, or more commonly known as the director visa. Labuan, being an international offshore business centre in Malaysia, is among the most attractive locations in the eyes of expatriates.

Regardless of the business location, Labuan or elsewhere, a director visa is issued by the Immigration Department of Malaysia. It typically lasts for a duration of two to five years, depending on the duration of employment contract.

Basic Requirements for Application

• The company have registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).
• The minimum paid-up capital is dependent upon the type of company ownership:
• In the case of a fully foreign-owned company, the company is required to have a paid-up capital of at least RM500,000.
• In the case of a joint venture with foreign equity of at least 31%, the company is required to have a paid-up capital of at least RM500,000.
• In the case of a joint venture with foreign equity of not more than 30%, the company is required to have a paid-up capital of at least RM350,000.
• The expatriate is paid a monthly salary of not less than RM5,000.
• The expatriate has a valid employment contract of not less than 2 years.
• The expatriate owns a minimum 30% of the company’s equity.
• The expatriate is aged between 27 to 50 years old at the time of application. An expatriate younger than the age of 27 would have to submit additional documents.
